ADA (Cardano)

ADA is the digital currency of the Cardano platform, a decentralized proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain offering an efficient alternative to proof-of-work (PoW) networks. Cardano aims to facilitate smart contracts, enabling decentralized applications in finance, gaming, and identity management. Named after Ada Lovelace, the first computer programmer, ADA tokens are used for transaction fees and governance participation, including voting on software updates. Cardano's blockchain consists of two layers: the settlement layer, which manages transactions and ADA balances, and the computing layer, responsible for executing smart contracts and applications. With its unique Ouroboros consensus protocol, Cardano boasts enhanced security, scalability, and energy efficiency.
