ICP (Internet Computer)
The Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) is a cryptocurrency that underpins a decentralized network of computing nodes, striving to forge a novel internet structure. ICP empowers users to develop and operate applications, websites, and web services on its network, independent of centralized cloud services or intermediaries. It also offers users a role in governing the network through proposal voting and upgrade participation, in addition to covering computation and storage costs. ICP's design is deflationary, with some tokens being burned when converted into cycles, the network's operational fuel. Launched in May 2021 by the Dfinity Foundation, a Swiss non-profit, ICP represents an innovative approach in decentralized computing.
