OMG (OMG Network)

OMG is a cryptocurrency functioning on the OMG Network, a layer-2 scaling solution enhancing the Ethereum blockchain. It enables faster and more cost-effective transfers of ETH and ERC20 tokens than the Ethereum main network. The OMG Network utilizes a sidechain architecture named Plasma, which aggregates multiple off-chain transactions and validates them as a single transaction on the Ethereum root chain. This process increases transaction throughput and alleviates congestion on the Ethereum network. The OMG token is used for network fees and will eventually facilitate network staking and security.
