XMR (Monero)

Monero (XMR) is a cryptocurrency dedicated to providing users with high levels of privacy and anonymity. Contrasting Bitcoin's transparent blockchain, which displays all transactions and balances, Monero employs various cryptographic techniques to conceal this information. These techniques include ring signatures, which mix the sender's signature with others to obscure the signer's identity, stealth addresses for single-use, ensuring recipients' real addresses remain undisclosed, ring confidential transactions (RingCT) that encrypt transaction amounts, and bulletproofs, a form of zero-knowledge proof enhancing the efficiency and scalability of RingCT transactions. These methods ensure Monero's transactions are secure, private, untraceable, and fungible, preventing any possibility of censoring, blacklisting, or devaluing XMR coins. As a decentralized, open-source project, Monero invites widespread participation and development contributions. Monero's mining process uses a proof-of-work algorithm designed to resist specialized hardware like ASICs, making it accessible to general users with standard CPUs and GPUs.
