ILS (Israeli New Shekel)
The ILS is the currency of Israel and is also recognized as legal tender in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. ILS stands for Israeli New Shekel, replacing the old shekel in 1986 at a ratio of 1000:1. The ILS is subdivided into 100 agorot, and its symbol is ₪. It is fully convertible and actively traded on the foreign exchange market.
