USD (United States Dollar)

The USD, the United States dollar, is the official currency of the United States and several other countries. Comprising 100 cents, the USD is symbolized by $ or US$. As a global reserve currency, it is held in significant amounts by central banks and governments worldwide for their foreign exchange reserves. Initially based on the gold standard, the USD has been a free-floating fiat currency since 1971.
